22re rebuild plus some
So I recently picked up an 86 4runner for $850 hoping it just needed a head gasket from overheating. Well when I started tearing into the motor I realized it is going to be in need of an overhaul. So I have been reading up on rebuilds on here and other places and have a list of parts so far. Just want to see what everyone else thinks and if I am missing anything.
Engnbldr Parts:
master kit - $240
water pump - $35
valve springs - $68
valves - $38
valve guides - $25
head bolts - $28
Machine shop:
hot clean block and head - $65
mill block and head if needed - $100
hone cylinders with torque block - $108
freeze plugs - $10
Other parts:
Marlin clutch kit - $220
Master and slave cylinder - $100
clutch bolt kit - $8
clutch fork boot - $16
fuel filter - $17
t stat - $16
witchhunter injector rebuild - $110
pcv valve and gromet - $6
spark plugs - $12
oil filter - $10
TOTAL - $1250
I am also figuring about another $300 for things like coolant hoses and fluids and misc stuff that pops up. I am hoping nothing is wrong with the head and I can just clean it up and get what I hope is surface rust from sitting of the rocker guides. Should save me some money there. So am I missing anything? Any advice? I am hoping this will only take about a month and not much longer.
Here it is when I picked it up.
