Exclamation 22RE rebuild help

I'm currently in the process of swapping out my 22RE that i blew up, and noticed that there was a lot of black gunk (carbon deposits? ) on the inside of the EFI all the way to the valves. My question is how do i clean this without having to completely disassemble the the EFI? Do i need to clean this, or is this build up normal? I should be starting to reassemble the engine in the next couple of days. I'll post some pics in a bit.

the build up is normal for a 22re but you should clean it if you're changing the engine.
if the engine's apart, dremel, carb cleaner, brake cleaner, etc... get rid of the gunk.

the gunk is a combination of 'stuff' from the PCV and EGR.
