I thought ENGNBLDR were only .5mm larger.. at least thats what i talked with him about in an email...

I don't know the exact measurement difference, and can't find anything solid online on the stock valves, but I did see where Ted says to "simply enlarge the existing valve seat by .033" intake and .024" exhaust to accept.! " .033" converts to .8mm difference.

It's highly possible that my unscientific measurement taken with a tape measure had that margin of errror in it. They just looked like they were a full 1mm bigger. I remember my disappointment when that was all the bigger they were.

.5mm, .8mm, 1mm, all to close to call when you don't have a micrometer.

This is very true.. stock is 37E and 45I, .8 is 2.2% and 1.8% lager... so thats not that bad... LC sells up to 40E and 48I.. now thats big..

Remember, the valve covers a hole. Properly installed, the hole gets bigger also. The area under of that hole is not proportional to the diameter of the valve.. It's a circle, so the difference is more sigificant than that.

Valve area (stock intake ) = radius^2 * 3.14 = 22.5 * 22.5 * 3.14 = 1589.6
Valve area (engnbldr - intake) = 22.9 * 22.9 * 3.14 = 1646.6

It's really a ~4% difference in terms of valve area.

You don't want to use valves beyond the size of what Ted is selling for most 22RE applications.. Exceptions are going to be motors with signifcant port work or blown applications. Ted's gone to a lot of trouble to come up with a size that doesn't decrease the low end of the 22RE. The desktop dyno runs that I've seen actually result in a decrease in low end when you go up to a 1mm over valve.... Without port work, the 22RE just doesn't do very well beyond about 4000-4500 rpm.

This is very true.. i didnt even consider how the measurement is taken.. and a 4% increse is a ton when your talking airflow.. I plan to use Ted's valves on mine, along with his 261C cam.. combined with my LCE header it should make for a sweet little motor...

Redneck Trick 101 turn the head over and poor a little gas on the valve if
it puddles up the valve is sealing if not it is leaking past the seat.
