hey guys. i need a little help. drivin home and my truck got real hot. pulled into my driveway and engine shut off by itself... then wouldnt start after checked coolant... NONE checked oil... LIGHT BROWN MILKY. Wat did i do and wat can i do to fix this?

Ok... noticed when it trying to be started it was puffin out white smoke from the exhaust.

If its puffin smoke and its got milky oil, my guess would be a head gasket.

Don't keep cranking it over , it wont solve the problem. What motor is it?

if its a 92 im guessing its the 3.0. you got the sickness man. blown head gaskets. good luck on that one. i have yet to get sick but the possibility is still there. sorry to hear that man. good luck on the fixes. search on here for some directions/ tips for changing them or tips for whoever will change them.

ouch. sorry guy, sounds like the head gasket. dont keep cranking it, thats gambling with destroying your engine. good luck

But I thought the 22RE never blew head gaskets and that was only a 3vze problem? I thought the 22RE was perfect in every way?

as far as i know, it DOESNT!... 256,000 miles on mine and HG has never been done.. still getting 165ish compression in all cylinders...

Just to make my post worth it, yes it sounds like a blown head gasket.
When was the last time the engine had its timing chain done?

you know, since this guy needs a new head gasket, i figure id ask a question for BOTH of us... everyone knows these engines were made with asbestos, and when they stopped using it, the gaskets blew easier. now my question is: is it possible to get ahold of an asbestos head gasket still?

Asbestos hg's were used up untill around 89-90 ish. I highly doubt you will find anything with asbestos in it anymore.

ok. to everybody that reads... its a 4 cyl 22re. if it is the head gasket... please tell me wat i need to do. i am 17 and have like 300 bucks. so please help me out here.

Start by printing up the relevant stuff from the FSM stickied on this site and others. Read the procedure a few times. Make sure to torque head bolts, etc... correctly and all that. Don't rush.

Research a machine shop that will make sure the head is flat and see what they charge to do a valve job just in case it needs one. If it's warped, the gasket will fail. Typically I lap valves and use these opportunities to install cams etc... However that's money you might not have.

Price your gasket set which will include much more than just the head gasket.

Search the site for other things to change while you are in there.

There are lots of performance related mods you can do but if you don't have the cash just cover the critical stuff.

And lastly, search because in the 20+ years since that engine came out, it's been fixed and discussed quite a bit.

the condition of your oil sounds just like the oil i drained from my rear differential after it sucked in water. So you probably have water or coolant in the oil.

x2. pull your timing cover and check the condition of the cover. This is an easy and cheap do-it-yourself fix if the chain chewed through a water jacket in the cover. Plenty of info onsite for this problem.
