22re Engine Swap - 2wd to 4wd

I've got an 89 toyota pickup, this has the 22re and a manual 4wd transmission. My 22re has some big issues. Therefore, I'm curious if I can take the 22re off of a 2wd trans and put it on my 4wd transmission (both are manuals). is it a simple swap or more steps than that? Any thoughts? Advice?
Thanks

Yes. You can use any 22re.

Depending on year the efi could be different. But the long block itself is all the same.

If your truck is a 4WD, and the engine is out of a 2WD or a car you'll need to change the oil pan.
