22RE dead need advice

Ok so I have been searching and reading 22RE rebuilds threads but I do not have the time to rebuild mine as my 86 runner is a DD. I have come across some post about remanufactured 22RE's and I wanted to see other people's thoughts on them and who to buy from vs the salvage yard.

Really depends on what a local salvage yard is going to charge you for a motor. You have to weigh in the mileage on the motor then too, and considering most of them pushed 200k+ before being thrown in a scrap yard, they might only be 100k or less away from needing rebuild themself. Sometimes you can pic up a new long block for roughly twice the price of what you'll pay for that used motor.

I've heard good things about Oregon Engine Builders; that's who I was going to go with before I just decided to do a full-on rebuild myself.

There's some others out there; I'm sure some other peeps will chime in

Thanks superbleeder. I did expect more peps to chime in with all the lurking around I do here and seeing everyone's 0.02 on other problems. Any way went with a davezoffroadperformance.com he is local and was referred by a fellow yoter tow truck driver that has done business with him for 6 years. So now just need to hall out with the old and in with the new.
