Found an 87 block for my 89 4runner any issues with these? Which EB kit would you go with? Would the machine shop be the first stop? Thanks for any insight, this is my first build-up, so i need a little info!!!!

EB only really has one "kit", the master rebuild. It's a very good product.

The first thing I would tell you to do is strip the engine down. Measure the pistons and bearings, see if everything is still stock size(ie hasn't been bored out yet). Then once you get that info order your Engine kit from EB. Once you have it, then take it to a machine shop. That way there is no guess work about pistons/rings and bearing fitting properly as the machine shop can use the new stuff to figure out how much to bore of the pistons and turn the crank.

block

Should i get any other items from the donor? I think pistons and rings are still there. Get a new stock head or go for the rv head.

The Street RV head is very nice, and is working quite well for me.

At the least you should get the old head pressure tested, machined and get a valve job. You could get bigger valves and new guides(from EB). You could get it polished and ported up the wazzoo. Your wallet and what you want to accomplish is ultimatley the limiting factor.
