22re back pressure problems

a couple months ago i installed a cherry bomb on my '88 22re. I had the cat. converter off and the glasspack in its place, no pipe out the back of the muffler. it ran fine, no problems for awhile then i started losing back pressure. when im off the throttle, during engine braking it starts popping at about 2300 rpm. i put the cat back on and the glasspack after that with a new pipe welded to the back of the muffler, i still have the back pressure loss and still get the rapid, loud popping when i got down to about 2300. any suggestions?

Get a better muffler and that will solve the problem.

so basically it goes

header.......down pipe thingy......cherrybomb?

lol of course it will have issues.......put some 2 1/4" piping before the cherry bomb and after

like a normal exhaust

that has to sound like poop too

I have had the stock exhaust, then the stock manifold to stock cat to a magnaflow muffler, and now I have a stock manifold to no cat and a cherrybomb. I like how the cherry bomb sounds way better than I did stock or a Magnaflow. The exhaust is 2 1/2". On my 88' I have straight header back that Y's to two FMF GSXR1000 mufflers. This is the best sounding 22 that I've heard.
