22RE AFMs interchangable?

I have been having a stalling problem with my trucks rebuilt 22re for a while now and recently I swapped out the old junkyard afm with a newer used one (looks to be out of a newer 22re probably 1990-1995). The stalling problem has not occured in over a week (it used to stall almost every day usually at night), but it has recently began to sputter/hesitate a bit when taking off from a stop. It has not stalled out yet though. Not sure if the newer afm is defective or maybe it's acting wierd because of it not being interchangable with an older style 22re (86-89).

Are you sure your not getting any codes? Have you checked the afm resistant values?
