22R - update
So, I've recently acquired a 1990 2WD Pickup that was really running pretty crappy. I've ordered a bunch of parts from RockAuto (killer prices, btw)... plugs, wires, dist/rotor, etc. I bought a fuel filter from my local AutoZone last week and had a few minutes to put it on today. It was a little bit of a pain with those hose clips/clams but I got the new one on. The one I took off was a Purolator that had a date of 2005 on it. I don't know if the date really means this filter is 4 years old but - HOLY CRAP. The truck runs noticeably better!!!! I have never replaced a fuel filter before and noticed a difference .. it was always one of those things I just did hoping that it made a difference.
I just wanted to share this.. because it is probably an overlooked part by some that can really cause your truck to run like crap.
I still have a bit of a studder but nothing like before. I'm hoping the other parts and maybe a fine tune of the carb will have this creampuff purring like a kitten!

Oil change and all shocks replaced. The oil was pretty nasty. The P.O. said the oil was changed about 3k ago... yeah right.
All four shocks were original.. completely shot. I removed the bolt on the top of the front shocks and they just dropped all the way down like there wasn't anything left in them. Pretty much the same in the back. The truck drives much better.
All of these little updates seem to be making a big difference with this truck. I think in a few weeks and a few more $$ I'll have something pretty decent.
I do need to replace my blower motor resistor... it is wasted too. Expensive little part!!

I spent a lot of time today under it and I'm really happy with how rustfree this truck is. I don't really see any rust on the frame or underbody. I guess it was driven gently and not in a lot of road salt.
I was kind of amused at the condition of the shocks.. You know, Toyota builds their stuff right. This is my fourth Toyota truck (89 Pickup - bought new, 97 Tacoma - bought new, 2000 4Runner - bought new and this one) and I'm always surprised at how well these things hold up. Also, even though some maintenance is a pain in the ass (the only time I wish my hands were smaller - ) - it is usually fairly straightforward once you take the time to see how everything works. This site is killer for info... for me - better than my FSM, Chiltons, Haynes, etc.
