22r into 4runner

So I've retired my '82 hilux recently, it's got a strong 22r in it, and I've got an '89 4runner that had a v6 in it..

My question is, how difficult would it be to throw the 22r in the 4runner? Eventually I'll be putting a 5mgte in there, but, if it's not too hard to throw the 22r in it I'll run that for maylong fun!

How bad is the V6 mate... Can't you spend some time on it, rather than putting a lower power engine in..

it'd only be temporary, the v6 has a busted rod.

i wasnt sure how hard it'd be since there are 4runners with 22r's in 'em, but i'm guessing they have diff mounts and trans..

yep. engine mounts and the transmission are different as are much of the electronics / harness particularly since the 22r is carbureted and the v6 (and 22re for that matter) are EFI, but you probably already knew that.
IF you're serious about the 5MGTE swap, a lot of what you'd have to do to put in the 22r would be applicable for the 5MGTE engine as well so if you did the mods methodically and planned ahead a bit, the 22r could be seen as a 'temporary' engine until the 5MGTE is on hand and ready to drop in (but I'm guessing it's coming from the supra in your sig?). But overall I think it's kind of a wasted effort unless you're looking at a couple years before the 5M goes in.
