22r carb
i have an 85 pick up with the 22r motor and the card needs to be rebuilt or replaced i have a good shop near me for rebuilds. they want 180 for the rebuild but i have to bring it in buy it self. and i was wondering if i was worth it to do all that work for a rebuild or would it be better to just buy a new one. i don't have much much money either i only work at chuck E cheeze.

$180 isn't bad at all for a carb rebuild, as long as the supply the rebuild kit included. I bought a used one myself, and it still needed to be rebuilt, and I paid $160 for the used one, plus my time and aggrivation of rebuilding it. Much better off giving them the money to do it, tune it up, and you can just slap it back on.

If you're not confident working with carbs, paying someone 180 for dealing with frustrations, etc., can be worth it. Rebuilding a carb isn't just changing some gaskets, etc., but also involves a lot of cleaning of passages and such (or at least should involve that) as well as adjusting needle valve(s), the float, choke, etc. Not doing the job properly can cause many hours' frustration.
