So I have been browsing this site for a long time (thanks for all the tips and tricks!) I made this account to see if anyone wants to help me decide on which of my 2 4runners to fix up. I have a 1988 red v6, and a 1990 Black 2 door also v6. This may seem pretty obvious what one I should work on at this point but it gets a little more complicated.
Lets start with a description of the 1988. 150 000 miles and runs like a top, rear quarters are rusted right out but the frame is overall in great condition. I just gutted the entire interior due to mice damage.
The 1990 needs major engine work (knocking like crazy) the body is rusting pretty bad and the frame is not looking to great. but the interior is mint.
I just purchased some 2 tone black/grey leather seats from a mercedes C43, front and rear. I have all the controllers and switches to wire them in and have some sweet ass ass cushions.

so, they are both rusted and broken? Sell both of them and get a good one.

 

I would go with the first gen. There have been several with good quarters at pick n pulls around here. Weld some new panels in and start making her right.
