2 1/2 inch body lift info
hello everyone, i was wondering if you could all help me out.
My rig.
1990 Yota Pickup reg cab 4x4 5 spd.
im looking to put a 2-1/2 inch body lift in my truck. i have made the blocks out of 2" dia UHMW rod, centered drilled.
what im wondering if you could help me with is what i have to all do to make this work.
do i have to extend any electiral or hoses?
do i have to lower the radiator?
extend shifters?
raise or lower anything else?
or change/mod anything to make it work?

Shifters if you'd like not having a short ones.
Yes electrical connecting from battery.
Make sure your blocks are stable idk I personally would buy a legitimate body lift .. But it's your choice

IMO I wouldn't go no larger than 1" above 1" you have to relocate things and its rough on the body mounts. Some manufactures make a larger diameter block then what your using and this helps relieve stress on the body mounts. I'd defiantly buy a kit before I would use a homemade one. However it's your truck so you do what you wanna do. Just remember you can pick a complete kit up for a little over 100 bucks.

so it would be easier to do a 2 in. lift instead of 2-1/2?
mostly all body lifts you can buy all come in one common size (which is normally 2" dia. blocks for all locations)
the price for the material and hardware cost only $30 instead of $130 or so.
im not worried about the strength of the material or the surface area for the blocks, since it is the same dia. as most lift blocks and the material is the same.
also the material is solid so it doesnt have cuts or grooves in the material(like most lift blocks) which increases surface area over other blocks and increases strength.
the biggest thing im wondering is what has to be modified or change to accompany a 2" or 2-1/2" body lift
im wanting to do this lift to make it easier to access componets under the cab and also allow for slightly larger tires with room for flex.

I don't think you have to do this but most toyota's that I've seen with 2" or larger BL's drop the radiator down the equivalent length of the BL. Some people extend the shifters some don't. That's up to you. You will have to remove or trim the factory rubber shift boot as it will cause the trans to pop out of gear. You may have to lower brake lines. I'm not sure if that tho. You may also have to extend your steering rod. Battery wires and filler neck may require so extra length as well. That should some it up.

from what ive researched i shouldnt have to extend the steering rod to much and also dont have to extend the brakelines.
does anyone know what the tread of the shifter knobs are?
