hey time has come to get some speakers. i got some cheap sony 6x9s to go in the rear that i will have to mount on my own. but now im lookin for the fronts. 4"s right? i searched ebay and found theses... talk about cheap

4" Polk Audio Speakers

my goal here is to just improve my sound over stock. nothing amazingly amazing, just dont have the wallet for it.

I put some Polk 4" in my 4Runner. They sound pretty good for their size.

I heard nothing but good things about Polk products but from personal experience, MB Quart speakers are the best I have ever heard.

The best stereo website I've found is www.cbrstereo.com. They have the cheapest stuff for some reason, I don't know how they get away with it.

Right now they have some 4" MB Quart coaxials on the main page for $49 on sale. These speakers are usually really really expensive so this is an amazing deal. I have dealt with CBRstereo before and have no complaints. Here is the link:

I still have the stock in mine, and they actually sound fairly good (when there is more sound coming from the rear that is )

I just installed some Pioneer TS-G1040R's in the front, direct fit.

They were CHEAP off of ebay.

In all honesty the stock may sound better, its a toss up.

beats me, I don't know jack about stereos. I would think the Kenwood deck I installed would provide ample power. Who knows, they don't sound bad, just not much difference IMO.

I stand by the Memphis 4" I put up front, they even have a respectable amount of bass from something so small.

the main problem with keeping the stock speaker location is that they are pointing at your butt. Just cut your doors, or get some kick pannels.

I tried the 4" polks and was not satisfied with them at all.

i have 6's in the doors and 6x9's in the back, i just bought cheep kenwood's from ebay as i don't want people to try to steal them when my top is off, it is more work for me to install new one's than what they are worth.

Dude... That's an amazing deal!

If my truck wasn't sitting dead in the driveway in need of a timing chain kit right now I would be ordering a set of those pronto.

I just use the stock speaker location for fill and have a set of Pioneer coaxials there now, but I would drop a set of those in there pronto. If they still have them for that price in a month or so I'll grab a set.

yeah a def. increase in speaker performance when i threw the 6x9s in the rear panel, and now when i use the back as my tent i have surround sound! but its got a nice thick tone w/ some bass, so im not gonna get a sub unless its in the panel as well.
