Having a corded light that could be powered without the key in the ignition would be cool. No batteries to worry about.
LED for low drain. And a magnetic swivel base so you could stick it on the vehicle. Nothing worse than grabbing a dead flashlight-with no plan B.

This one is cordless (I have an old incandescent that plugs into the "power outlet" (cigarette lighter), but the cord never seems to be quite long enough.) You'd want to install a USB A outlet to keep it on charge. You'd probably want to buy two or three; the temptation to take it out of the truck when you "need" it elsewhere would be too great for me.

I have in my truck a USB outlet charging a LED wand light like Eric O uses, a 12 VDC long cord hand held w/hanger spot light, and a couple of free with purchase Harbor Freight block style magnetic LED lights I keep under the hood.
Another thing you want to carry, especially in winter if you travel back roads, is a pack of butane lighters. Fire can save your life.
