1995 3VZ Coil - Ignitor Options
Ok guys...I have a good one for you.
I have a 1995 V6 and was cruising down the interstate when the engine died. Everything still works and the engine cranks but no spark. I have my suspicion that it is the Ignitor or the coil (my 85 22R did the same thing and it was the Ignitor then). I am looking to find a donor vehicle to borrow a coil/ignitor from for testing purposes and I have a couple of questions:
My questions:
1. Will an ignitor from a 22R run the truck or is it different from the 3VZ? I am wanting to test and don't want to destroy something on my truck or the donor ignition box.
2. Would you recommend that I replace it with original equipment or will an aftermarket ignitor suffice? O'Reilly's has an aftermarket BWD with a limited lifetime warranty at about 2/3 the price of the O.E.
I hope it is this and not something more difficult. I have looked at the testing procedure included on this forum but I figure the easiest test is to use a good donor setup if I can.
Thanks for the help!
