So I have what is apparently a common failure on my 1994 DLX as the speedometer works intermittently but the odometer works consistently which means the speed sensor is working. I pulled the speedometer tonight and cleaned the back with quick dry electrical cleaner. It was obviously dirty and discolored. Am changing out all the bulbs tomorrow and then see if the cleaning did anything.

 

So drive the truck to the body shop today to get the bed sprayed and speedometer worked from the time I left the house all the way to the shop with no problems. I had read about folks cleaning the circuit board but didn’t have much faith in it actually working. If this is a long term fix I’m $250 to the good as I was going to send it off for repair.
