1993 22re alternator replace
#2
I'm failing posting on my phone. I'm on vacation 60 miles from any repair shop with minimal tools. Alternator died. But there is a napa down the block. I can order the part and buy the needed tools. The shop owner will let me do the work at the store.
Brake light and battery light come on and battery volt meter drops to around 12. turn signals make the needle jump.
How do I remove the connector in the image? Connectors always throw me.
Aldo been intermittent last few days. Battery 2 or 3 years old, I cleaned the terminals. Not better

That is just a protective insulator, and it just snaps off using a small screwdriver, or the like. Old plastic is fragile, be careful.
The lower plastic part remains on the alternator. The wire terminal itself is secured to the alternator output post by a nut and washer.

That cap protector came off easily enough but one of the small tabs that help keep it attached to the harness broke off. I used some electrical tape to keep it attached till I get to a hardware store to get a zip tie to secure it better.
The cap didn't snap on the napa alternator anyways. For that matter the battery cable didn't fit either. I had to snap off the two side tabs off the connector. That bit seems a little over engineered by toyota.
Thanks for the help!
