1992 toyota pickup 22re 2WD payload

Hello everyone!
I am a new member and wanted to post a question here. I have a 1992 standard cab pickup 2WD and use it as my work truck. My brother and i have rebuilt pretty much everything and i love it...however i use it as both my work truck and haul tools around in it and also sleep in it sometimes, and was wondering about how much weight is too much? I have basic carpentry tools ( nail gun/ compressor/ skill saws) and a lot if random stuff. Should i beef up the rear suspension? Maybe im over thinking it....just curious!
Thanks a lot!

The GVWR should be on the door tag. Subtract the weight of the truck and the weight of yourself and any passengers and you'll be left with your max payload.

Yea that gives me something like 1,850 pounds to haul around...i didnt think it could handle that hahaha..Also, when i looked at the sticker inside the door it recommends 195 size tires, i have 205/75/14s, would that cause any issues? Thanks!

1800 pounds would probably slow you down, and if you truly were carrying that every day then it probably wouldn't hurt to get some add-a-leafs. But it is technically rated up to that much. Carrying around what you show in that picture isn't anything to worry about. It's a truck after all. If you do need to really load that truck down on occasion, you have a lot of payload to spare.

205 is only 10mm wider than a 195. That's like 3/8 of an inch. Not going to make hardly any difference. Run it.

I think these qualify as what we old geezers would call a "half ton pickup". Mine's an '89 2wd w 22re 5spd and P195 tires. I don't have an '89 owner's manual, so I refer to an '85 manual I have. It indicates: "cargo weight rating" 1100 (500)
lb. (kg) for "1/2-ton truck (gasoline-powered vehicle)" both the short-bed and long-bed models .

I always found it odd that the pickup I have, with lots of room in the bed and no topper, any more, is a 1/2 ton, yet the 4Runner, with the small bed space, cover and all that, is a 3/4 ton. I guess it's the way the suspension is set up on them both...

I added a helper spring on my '91 Toyota. Makes a huge difference when you have weight on. Springs on these truck seem to level out under minimal weight.

You get a little crazy with that skill saw? Is that what the helmet is for?
