I am still not sure who took it but the way it was stuck and the fact that it didn't even have the hubs locked make me think it was his friends. He knows better. I think someone just lifted the key and went for a joy ride. I will find out eventually.

Harleyman, I am sure you know that you can't just lump people into groups and say this guy is one of them so he must act and think a certain way. BUT if you investigated an abandoned wrecked vehicle, presumably stolen, wouldn't you even look inside of it? Wouldn't you collect the obviously illegal drug paraphenalia out of it? There are good cops who try to do all they can to help people and they are courteous and polite. Unfortunately they are VERY few and far between. Most of the time the ones I have to deal with are twentysomethings with little to no education, little to no life experience, and a big chip on their shoulders. They are usually smallish, or at least were when younger, and they almost to a man got picked on really bad all the time they were coming up. The only reason they wear the uniform is because it is an easy, quick way for them to get a little respect and or attention. So no offense, but I know there are good cops but they are not I think in the majority. I have had things stolen from me by two policemen and I have gotten the items back and the officer wasn't even fired.

Yeah that sucks big time. My 84 pickup has been stolen twice and it sucks getting it back when its been trashed on. But also keep in mind my key will unlock and start my buddies 89 pickup so if they didnt tear up the steering colum I would assume thats how they started it because thats the only way I can think of they would be able to start it without hot wiring it.

I usually keep it in the garage. but when it isnt i get way to helpful, i.e. leave it unlocked in the morning while it is on...warming up. but now my new one will be parked on the side of the house. and im gonna do a killswitch to it aswell.

sounds like the police down south are a lot different then that of the ones here...good thing you got your truck back...and as for your comments about police...sorry you have to deal with bad ones...but until you have been a police officer, you will never know how stressful the job is...so have some respect for the people the protect you day in and day out...

good and bad people come in all shapes, sizes and walks of life. unfortunately, some professions attract undue attention more than others. the 2%r's ruin it for the rest of us.
