Disconnect it, see if it still does it. If not, you need to get a DMM and get to checkin wires.

Check all your grounds make sure they are not corroded, intermittent problems usually go with lose grounds especially when the vehicle is cold. if you need a ground distribution diagram I can provide that for you.

Can anyone point out where that sensor is ? I see 2 on the front passenger side of the intake manifold that might be them, but not sure.

I had 152-158 compression by the way.

This page is what you are looking for: http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...36electron.pdf

Just be sure to look at the 22RE (4 cylinder) section at the top and not the 3VZ-E section (6 cylinder). I've made that mistake before and was searching for a screw that didn't exist on my engine

I checked the wires to the CTS, I didnt remove the plug but the wires looked fine. The local NAPA has it for $50 so before I buy it, is there any test I can do ? Is that sensor one that reads resistance ? I am an Hvac tech so I do know how to handle a multimeter. Thanks.

Just don't let your significant other catch you cooking your sensors in her cookware. Got busted that way with a thermostat. She was unhappy...

$15 at Autozone. CTS's don't cost $50, either they are selling you an OEM part or ripping you off. Napa might have another brand you could buy if you don't have an autozone. Or try Ebay/Amazon.

Just be sure to double-check the grooves, this one is offset so make sure your connector is the same way.

I did replace the sensor and I have not had any issues. However the old fix one thing, fix another came up. Replaced a rear ujoint, next day front wheel bearing locked up, fixed that today. Can anyone tell me where the rheastat is for the fan control, mine only works on high speed.

Sounds like every other old Toyota truck! Go to fix A, B breaks.

I might be able to help on this one, maybe not (assuming you mean the fan control switch for the cab). From what I gather, there's two possible culprits. Mine went out and only had "OFF" and "HIGH" speeds that were working. It quit on me one day and smoke came out of the dash. If that's the case, your fan control speed switch short-circuited. I took mine out and was black and burnt. New one cost me $45, but the junkyard might be a cheaper solution. The second culprit is the fan resistor, located under the glove box on the passenger side. I have no experience with this, since it wasn't my issue but I know others around here have done it. If you start a new thread you'll get some replies.

Thanks, I found a local guy with a ton of Toyota parts, I just didnt know where that resistor is. Mine works on high, but I get nothing on the other speeds, and off of course.

Here's a link to the Factory Service Manual (FSM) that explains the "blower motor". If you haven't already, bookmark it. It's the manual that Toyota mechanics use since it documents how to fix ANYTHING on the truck. Note that it's for a '93, but it's pretty close to any model between 89-93. Only main differences is the throttle body that I've found.
