1990 Automatic Trans Types

Can anyone enlighten me as to what was available in 1990 in regards to automatic trans options and what application they were for and differences- interested in 4x4 only. Pan gasket pics would be appreciated.

Funny, when I last did a service on it NAPA asked which one it was (one of two)- of course I had to buy the $80 a filter kit.

Yeah, there were probably two manufacturers of filters, some are more than others.

Only one type of automatic for the V6.

Don't forget the A340F that was behind the 4cyl. That's more than likely what the reference to 2 different ones was.

Ok, as I researched things for the 22re in particular- the A340 H and F could be equiped. Even though they share the 340 sounds like they are very different. What is the major difference and how can I tell what I have- it's been 1.5 years since the service and I honestly forget. Trucks not driven alot.
