Nathan the link to the '93 service manual no longer works. Do you have a current link?

Front Wheel Bearing preload - torque nut with no socket

Some of us are "pros" are without a socket, and the fish scale drag is a good finial test. But get it right first with vicegrips locked across the nut; then vicegrip a 1/2 extension to the GRIPS on the nut - VOILA ! - YOU CAN TORQUE CORRECTLY THE FIRST PRELOAD 43LBS; THEN AFTER THE ALTERNATE CYCLES OF LEFT AND RIGHT TURNING OF THE HUB; LOOSENING REPEATING; TIGHTENING AGAIN TO 43LBS; ROTATE; LOOSEN THEN ROTATE; FINIAL TIGHTEN TO 21LBS.

FOLD AVAILABLE TABS OF THE LOCK-WASHER TO PIN THE PRELOAD TORQUE; TORQUE THE LOCK NUT TO 43 LBS - WORKED PERFECT.

Late year 1989 pickup 4cylinder ST - i did the timing chain replacement with head on - make sure you pull the pan, the pieces of the rail are not just at the bottom, but can glue and accumulate upon the oil pickup intake screen - lowering oil flow and pressure,

Back in the day I've done hundreds of wheel bearings on log trucks by feel no fancy tools they average 10-12 thousand miles a month and the only failures were older bearings or lube problems not preload related
