TTY are a one time use only. Once they've been torqued, they are strecthed past thier elsastic constant and are garbage once done. If you have a HG issue in the future, that's why............but i hope you dont have that issue.

Im not using my headbolts again, instead im getting grade 10.9 headbolts from EPN which are far superior to OEM headbolts.

This may be a silly question but if Toyota knows that these are 1 time use bolts, Why are they not covered on the recall?

I just got a project 92 4Runner 3.0. I have been reading these posts about the recalls. I tried to call the number some had posted, 1800-404-7636, but I think that number has changed. My 4runner is eligible for the steering relay rod and the A/C extension valve, but not the head gasket. I checked inside the drives door for a sticker stating that the head gasket was done but there is nothing. Just the original factory sticker. Why would this 4runner not be eligible for the HG... because i really don't think it has been done.

 

The 92 should be covered as mine was. if your dealer told you this, try another one and get the national number if they say no.

I just got a high mileage 89' Runner. Is the 89'-V6 prone to head gasket problems, like the ones listed in this thread. I have to say this site has alot of info and I can see the mods coming,. soon.
