I am re using the stock tailgate and rear window track, I may make some sort of manual slider for the rear window but i am having a soft top with tonna cover made on satuday for until i winish making all the walls for the inside and making the mount for the winch. Just remember it is still in progress. The welds will be finished and all. LOL

I am having a hard time stripping out all the extra sheet metal for the window track. It is like 4 layers thick so I cant cut it streight to lne up with where i already cut. I was a little scared to do it but the chop was easy. I had that done in like 3 hours. The bobb is not finished and i have about 8 hours into it. I could have done it faster but i have to quit around 3 every morning cause i get up at 8:30 and i have to get it to a point where i can drive it the next day.

Question? Before you cut the back did the truck sit level and after the cut it raised like this.

I plan on doing similar work on mine and am contemplating removing a leaf from my leaf packs front and rear to accomidate and add maybe a bit longer shackle in the rear.
Looks really good I think you took the perfect amount off

I have coils and when i cut off all that weight i gained about 3" of lift lol. I am buying my sas kit tonight and will lift the front to match. Then i will extend the rear outer links and move my rearend back a little. Ps. My camera is charging will post pics in a couple.

I wonder if my leafs will yeld such big gains from the cut
Ill have to see I guess. I would like to keep my 4runner low becuase of the top weight so I bet Im going to have to remove a pack from the springs. Cant wait to see some more pics

So you ended up grafting back on the original window frame? I think that's a pretty good way to go.
I have always wanted to chop, but keep the ability to lower the rear glass by re-using the original tailgate. But I guess the wheel wells are in the way.
What's you plan? Fixed glass, something else?

And the reason you can cut and weld the back corner right back on is because both vertical diagonals on the rear side windows are parrallel.

What about maybe a plexi window or similar material with hinges to make it fold down? That would be cool and I think I just gave myself an idea for mine

has anyone thought about cutting the top off and keeping it as a hard top? That way you could run a soft top in the summer and have a hard top for the winter. If i ever had the courage, thats what i would do.

I am inspired... This summer this is taking place for me... Im gonna go with an open bed and a square back, how did you protect your carpet? Or did you just remove it all?
