1989 Pickup with 3VZE
Hello All,
New to this forum but not forums or yota's,
I'm getting a new pickup for free from my aunt, but it needs some work. I 90% sure it burned an exhaust valve and that's why she stopped driving it. This was a truck bought for her by my great grandfather, so she is willing to give it to me with the understanding I won't sell it, which I don't plan on at all, EVER! I sold my mom's first truck, which was my first truck(85 4x4 with a 22r) and I regret that all the time. I sold my 88 and regret that and my 95. So I wont ever sell this puppy. (only one I dont regret is my 2012 lol) but most comfy!
That being said, I want some feedback on my plan and would like some guidance if possible.
I'm picking up some complete, remanufactured-heads, ready to bolt on for $250 locally and was thinking of getting a set of HG's, new timing belt, and either new head bolts or even going with ARP stud heads. I'd like to keep it cheap but don't mind spending where necessary.
I know I'm going to get some headers for it(I'm thinking Doug Thorley's or LCE's) and slowly upgrade suspension and the rest of the truck but need it running strong again first.
What's everyone's thoughts on ARP studs vs new head studs for like $50?
And if ARP is clear cut way to go, what about HG's can I get some fel-pros with ARP studs or are Genuine Toyota's still recommend?
This is something I'm looking at too:

Looking forward to anyone two cents!
Thanks in advance.
