Basically I know 88 is a funky 1 off yr for electrical stuff. That year is different than the others. So i would assume 1988 is the only year you can use.

He should respond within a day or so... If not I can try and text him for ya.

I just had to replace the ECU on my 88 3.0 auto. When I was looking around what I did was use the part # off the existing ECU. As previously stated, the 88 is a bit of an anomaly and the ECU IS also specific to the type of tranny you have. Take a look at eBay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT the part # he has listed is exactly what is on my ECU.

you said you needed an ECU, not a harness. It is a 22re interior harness and ECU for sale 50$ each. So if it is an 88 22RE ECU, then it will work and it is only 50$ I dont see why you would ask about the wiring harness anyways...

I guess I am lost. I assumed you would PM him and say... " Hey, I see you have an '88 4x4 22re 5spd ECU for sale for 50$. If it is still available I would like to buy the ECU since I need one..."

Just for reference..... He sent me those parts... (I BOUGHT THEM) the harness was not the engine harness so I sent it back cuz that is what i thought it was. Got my money back for the parts..He is a nice dude. He has what ya need. I'm just trying to help make it simple for you because of my experience and I knew exactly where one was...

Assuming you want to be certain it is the one you need... Then look up the 88 ECU part number on the chart 4Crawler gave ya and compare it to his part number. Voila... either number CA or FED shouldn't make a difference, as long as it is the 88. Someone correct me if I am wrong on this.

bummer. It's kinda lame when peeps look at the mfg. Date and don't realize that 89's were built in 88... And so on... Reason why I ended up with an 88 harness.

Well im not too disappointed because i am pretty sure my ecu actually turned out to be ok, also the harness is fine too, the shop i took it too during all the storms was basically wrong on everything they told me. now that its stopped raining i have been able to work on it and had figured that out on my own
