A 1987 van 4wd 4yec engine riddle..GOOD LUCK!!

Problem 1
1. Van starts on the first crank when cold, but very hard to start when engine is hot or warm (needs 2 or more long cranks when hot).

Problem 2
1. Engine cranks but does not start after it has been raining a few days. Engine starts well if a hair dryer is left to blow on the distributor for about 15 minutes. Distributor cap, rotor, spark plug wires, and spark plugs have been replaced. Old distributor cap "points" were rusted over in the replaced cap. There is a hole at the bottom of the distributor, which I have been told is normal (oem).

if you haven't already, check out www.toyotavans.net/forum

I don't have any ideas for you, but I'm sure they do. I'm over there as well with the same username. They help keep my TV running.
