1987 22RE won't idle, runs rough below 2000 rpm
My friend has been plagued with an idle and performance problems on his 22re.
The truck never idles, it is hard starting and must be forced to run above 2000rpm. The problem developed slowly over time, however the fuel injectors, filter, tune up, throttle body, oxygen sensor are fairly fresh and the engine has 80,000 miles on it. He replaced the air flow meter earlier this week. It has been to three mechanics over the last several months but little has changed. Currently, it barely runs so your help is appreciated!

Disconnecting your TPS will throw the ECU into limp mode, that way you can eliminate that as a problem
If not I would assume an intake manifold leak, or a timing issue
