Question 175psi on a 3.0. should I be concerned?

I did a compression test on my 3.0 and got 169psi on 1,3,and 5. Im pretty sure that is good. However, I got 173,173 and 175 on 2,4, and 6 respectivly. That is 2 and 3 psi above the high spec of 171. Should I be worred about a couple of pounds? My tester says that its due to carbon buildup. I plan on running some seafoam to try to clean it up. If the results are the same afterward should I care and try to clean it up manually?

No, that's nothing to worry about. Carbon build-up can not be corrected by something as simple as seafoam.

For future reference, what can be done to fix it?

Nothing!

There's nothing wrong, just because the book calls for 171 as high spec, doesn't mean that even from the factory floor it wasn't pushing 180 psi. Don't worry about it, thats a good healthy engine, nice n high pressure reading, means your piston rings are still in decent condition, your readings for each cylinder aren't to far off, which is a good thing.

From what you gave us there, that is a perfectly healthy engine. Theres nothing you can really do to prevent it really. Carbon buildup is just something that happens with all engines, you can minimize it certain ways, but in the end its just something that will happen with every engine thats going to give 100k+ miles.
