150K Engine Checkup

I am getting ready to change my oil in the truck right around 150K. I'm changing out to Synthetic Oil, but should I change out my plugs, wires, cap, and rotor while I'm there since it's hittin 150K ? I remember when I changed all that on my my '92 it improved the trucks performance. Just felt like it drove better. Also, since I'm switching to synthetic do I need to do anything different when I change my oil or just do it like normal? What's a good brand of spark plug wire? I'm gonna use NGK plugs and just stock cap and rotor.

what do yall think?

If there is nothing wrong with the plugs, wires, etc. I would see no reason in changing them because of the switch to synthetic oil. If you are doing them as part of your maintainence schedule, that's great. How long has it been since a full tune was done?

The synthetic oil question is a can of worms. My personal opinion for switching is to run an oil compatible with both synthetic and dino, then at the next oil change switch to full synthetic.

That's the thing about the schedule part is that I don't really know because I just purchased the truck a couple months ago. I do know at 90K the truck had the factory recall about the headgasket done and they replaced a tone of stuff around that area including the timing belt, water pump, and clutch. That's why I was asking about the plugs, wires, and etc.

what is this synthetic / dino combo you are referring ?

Valvoline Durablend is a syth/conventional mix oil. If I didn't already have a leak I'd proabably switch.

Alright sounds good. I'll check into that when I head up to Advanced this weekend.
