I didn't see anything in earching the forums... so anyone put a 48" Hi-Lift on the factory swing-away? Still can't drive bc of the surgery, so i'm curious.

Is it possible to mount it horizontal on this? I dont wanna lose the factory carrier because its WAY too much for a custom rear setup, and I'll be mounting my CB antenna on there too...

don't know if yer only into the swing away mount, but...
I got me a roll bar from a 1st gen and threw it in the back of my 90---tight squeeze, but still got in in. I used the factory threaded holes in it to bolt my 60" HiLift to it...it takes up very little room and it's inside from the external peril of environmental elements and human thievery, plus you can hang hella stuff on it

You fit the 1g roll bar. Didn't know that could be done. Have any pics of it?

ya I got pics

just hadta cut the side panels in half to fit it around the roll bar...went right in place...bolted the roll bar to the floor, and hafta get around to bolting it to the frame underneath for extra strength.

hardware needed is a few bolts (one u-bolt), washers, (wing) nuts, nuthin fancy. but a kick ass place for the HiLift & tow straps, and got the tool box and fire ex. on the other side to boot

Wow! So there was no cutting on the roll bar to get it in? I'd love to see some more detaile pics if you got 'em...

I mounted a Hi-Lift to my factory tire carrier on my 2nd Gen.

Fit's horizontal, and tucks right behind my 35" spare really nice.

I'll try and get a pic up so you can see.

48" jack, 35" tire. Made two brackets, welded them to factory carrier.

I used to take my jack apart and keep the bar under te back seats, 48" just fits between the doors. I then kept the foot and mechanisim in a tool box in the back.

That tire looks huge on the back of the runner.

Elvota- awesome setup. Its exactly what I was thinking of doing. Did you modify the Hi-Lift brackets or make your own?

I'm thinking that'd still leave me room to weld a CB antenna mount as well...

I also mounted my 48" to a first gen rollbar customized to fit the 2nd gen runner... I went a little different on the rollbar. I cut it and re welded it to fit closer to the seats...

Thanks for the compliment. It is nice to have the jack out of the way yet ready when you need it to be.

I made my own brackets... I think 1" square tube. I am not the best welder, still new at the craft... but they work.

Hardest part is getting the clearance between the door and tire. I think a standard sized spare would leave a lot of room though.

I mounted mine in the rear seat footwell to the seat pivots/supports. Since it's pretty much up against the bottom of the seat, there is still a fair amount of legroom - no complaints yet, and it's easily accessible!

Good idea, but do your seats still flip forward w/o problem?

Um - no.

They move enough that you can get to the tire winch rod under the seat though. I keep the jack in the rear passenger side compartment with the tire tools.
