14.2 to 19.3 MPG now

After 4 weeks of driving, 80% highway, thought I would post some details.
Did the Seafoam 3 times for fuel and intake. Adjusted TPS to spec. Still very small hesitation there, may be worn. Did air box mod and K&N drop in. New rotor, cap, wires were well within specs. Synthetics in tranny, both diff's, transfer, all joints, wheel bearings. Think that's it so far. Plan on doing ADD to manual as soon as I figure what I need. I may do Aisin, since I think I heard it fits behind original cap, don't do any off roading, just for use in snow. Read the tech write ups, still not clear what I need. Autozone here has Warn at around $200 new without tax, doesn't specify what is included and have to order. Any tips out there what to look to buy in Aisin.

WARN hubs are 122/set on their website. As far as I know, everything needed is in the box (I posted a thread about it earlier this week). That's an awesome spike in mpg though.

Big gain, Yes!

forgot to mention new Denso 02 sensor, it garnered 1/2 that gain. Original sensor lost heater, I think diagnostic said that. Thanks for the info on Warn. Still need to find out about Aisin to compare and make up my mind, I know most like Warn because of the warranty, but I guess if it fits behind the original caps would be good for me. I know the manual will give me at least 1 or maybe 2 more mpg. Have not removed silencer between throttle body and air box, but didn't think that would help much. I don't think changing exhaust will help much either, although it may gain a little, but for the cost. Not decided on that yet.

Go Aisin.....warn hubs suck because they don't employ cone washers, so they have a tendency to come loose and break. If you shop around your local junk yards, you can probably get a set of Aisins for $40.

Noticed you replaced HG at 106k, seems mine last about 95k, on 2nd set now at 201k. I've never owned a vehicle that blows gaskets like this. Not complaining, 4Runner has been good to me.

There are mods you can do to help reduce strain on the HG. Such as headers. Are you the original owner of your rig?

Go with the factory Aisins, much stronger than the Warns. Here is a good source for used ones: http://frontrangeoffroadfab.com/nfos...e06a7061b67e36 ---------Hans

Not the original owner, 2nd owner. 1st put 100k, I've put 101k on it. Headers are so expensive, hard to justify for me.

i'm quite pleased with the aisins i got from runethechamp. my mileage went from 16.4 to 20.8 with no other mods to cloud the analysis. i can't say for certain if some other factors are at work, for instance whether we're off 'winter gas' here now or not. that could be a limiting factor.

Hey, I like the sound of that. Definitely going manual.

Toyota made 3 different versions of hubs (as far as I know, anyway), '79 -'85 trucks use 30 spline hubs, the later IFS hubs are 27 spline and obviously won't work on the earlier trucks (and vice versa) Tacoma hubs are also 27 spline but, have a shorter stub axle (so, I've been told anyway) and won't work on the earlier IFS trucks (and vice versa)-------Hans

I've checked out ebay, but still don't know what to look for. Some say will fit any, when I know they don't. Ah well, at least if I buy Warn local, I'll get the right ones.
