windshield wipers and fluid problem?

Here is the deal w/my windshield wipers. They work on all the settings accept the first one, the slow interval setting and the wiper fluid part does not work either. Yes there is fluid in the reservoir. lol... Any ideas on?

I was thinking at first it could be clogged lines for the wiper fluid, but why would the first setting on the wiper speeds not work?

Its possible that the wiper switch is bad, or maybe even the delay box under the dash. as for the pump, they can also go bad or get plugged up, you will need to take it a part and check it out.

Those stalks go bad after years of use and it is probably just worn out.

Try 4crawler's website and see if he has anything on that and if you need the part try DeathCougar.

Can anyone help me locate these items. The FSM just tells you to check them, but doesn't say where they are located. At least not that I was able to see.

Wiper Switch
Wiper Control Relay

Washer Motor
Washer Switch

motor is in the washer tank, at the bottom

wiper switch and washer switch is the thing you flick with your right hand
wiper control relay is usually built into the switch on later models, for early ones, not sure

you can test the wiring at the pump by connecting a test light bulb to the connector (unplug the pump) and see if hte bulb lights up when you hit the wash button.

cheers.

Here is the motor/pump I believe. I couldn't get a pic of the wiring coming off of it, but it simply is cut.

Knowing the problem up to this point, I need find out where these wires go. It is hard to tell the color of them without taking it out because of the location and how dirty things are, but by the look of it from under the truck it seems there are two wires, one black/red and one blue/? (doubt it straight blue, but couldn't see another color from my angle).

I'm going to look at the wiring diagram in the FSM, but if anyone knows where in the world I can find the other ends that would be of great help.

Here's a pic of the wiring diagram out of the FSM. Hmm.... I don't see a black/red wire or a blue/? anywhere on the diagram and it appears there is only one wire coming from the washer motor unless they don't specify a ground.

Any ideas?

I suppose the two wires coming are the input and output wires, I was just looking at the diagram differently.
I think I'm going to take it out and take a look at the wires more closely or locate the windshield wiper switch as shown in the diagram

Does anyone know what the wiper 20A box is? is that a fuse that it's running into? Also can someone explain what the A B C D lines on the top mean and the a b c lines on the bottom are? Thanks

The wiper control box is behind the passenger side kick panel. Its green and easy to spot.

sweet, that helps a lot. In case anyone is curious, L in the diagram means blue. I did not know that. It helps a lot. Reasons it's not B is because that is the letter for black.

Does anyone know where I can get the other side of this plug so I can solder up some wires and complete the connection for the wiper pump/motor?

does anyone know where the wiper relay box is located? It is separate from the wiper switch. I believe it is the box that deals w/the intermittent wipers as shown in the diagram a couple posts up. I think if I can locate this then I will have my problem solved.

bump, does anyone know the location of the intermittent wiper relay?

BTW... for the wiper fluid it was bad wiring and then after I solved that issue I found that the pump was also bad. I'm getting a new pump in the mail within the week.

I'm thinking that the int. wiper relay is also in the passenger kick panel. If this is the case then I do not have the relay and it is missing because the only box down there is the wiper washer switch.

Can someone confirm this?

Heres what controls the wipers, at least the intermittent part.

If you can't find one then its possible that maybe your truck didn't have intermittent wipers to begin with. Maybe a previous owner at some point replaced your wiper switch or steering column because it didn't have tilt or something so it was swapped out?

Just throwin out some ideas.

What does it look like where the wires plug into this thing? Is it possible to get a pic of it?
