Wheel bearing rotating preload?

Ok I read Liveforsoccer7's recent posts about this and I am in the same boat, just basically want to see if the thoughts are to run it like it is for a day or so, see if it loosens up and then retorque.

My TG knuckle rebuild kit came with two sets of rear bearing seals. The set in the knuckle kit was not as heavy duty as the set in the wheel bearing kit. The seals in the wheel bearing kit are thicker, with heavy daul lips, so I used the heavier set.

I put the bearings/seals in to FSM specs, the rotating preload was 20lbs, I took it all apart, including taking the rotor off and put it back to factory specs, still 20lbs. played with the torque on the 2nd 54mm retaining nut to no avail.

So I backed off the 1st 54mm nut to 38lbs, and left the 2nd nut at FSM specs, 16lbs that time, played with torque on the second one, i think I'm down to 25lbs on the 2nd one, and I am still at 16lbs.

What do you think run it, for a day check and retorque?

I can't honestly tell you last time I have checked the preload actually with a fish scale. I just follow the FSM and know what it should feel like when done. If you followed the FSM I think you will be fine.

Yeah I think it will be fine, I know it is put together exactly like the book says, just feels tighter than others I've done. I dont think it will take much to loosend up though. It's a 30 mile round trip to work, I'll do it one day next week then take it apart and check it.

Didn't check mine with a scale either.
