yea..i say just get used to it..at the most, maybe do a cam and header..get your carb tuned JUST RIGHT..and your timing and you should be ok..make sure your gearing in your axles is right for the tires you are running..as in dont run 35's on 4.10's..you'll have NO POWER..lol.

i myself have realized that older model toyota pickups have no power..which makes them soooo reliable, if i ever have to do a motor swap...i'll probably go with either a 4.3V6, or a 3RZ-FE..probably the 4cyl..just to keep it toyota..that thing has loads of power..lol

You can always put in a properly-timed camshaft, but plan on spending around 200-300 if you do the work yourself.

I'd say a good tuneup is a start, then make sure your vacuum lines are not rotten.

Headers & exhaust, then maybe a head with oversized valves, advance valve timing 2 degrees, you will have MAYBE 25-30 more HP.

Maybe you could buy the truck but you won't get a nice engine for $2500.

That depends on who does the swap.

A 1uz engine, complete with wiring harness and all that jazz, runs about $1k from the local wreckers.

Of course, you'd need a bellhousing, headers, and a whole lot of work, but you'd end up with 300# of torque instead of 150#.

The $2500 on a few horsepower modifying the engine is not a good value.

IMO, modify the driver, not the engine. Do all the footwork mods before anything else. Tires, armour, lockers, winch, etc.
