What did I break on the carb?

So I was trying to remove my thermostat and as I went to unscrew the bolt on the right side (drivers side) of the thermostat housiing I broke thos line that runs to the carburator,.it actually says carburator on the line itself. So this line is connected directly into the top of the motor directly next to the thermostat. Its like a plug of some sort and it has a little plastic needle like thinginside of it that I.could see once I snapped it. Does anyone know what this could be. Truck seems to be running fine but idk.. Any help would be very appreciated so I could order this part and replace it

A picture would improve your chances of a response.

It is like your describing a tree in the woods by a rock on that hill...

If I had a camera there would already be a pic on here but I can try to describe its location a little better. If your looking at the motor and you see the top coolant hose that holds the thermostat. It is directly under the carb cover. Directly to the right of that thermostat hose is a plug/hose that is attached to thinside e engine with a bolt almost like a coolant temp sensor or a temp gauge sender.

It's an engine coolant controlled sensor called Bi-metal Vacuum Switch Valve (BVSV). It will route engine vacuum after the engine reaches operating temperature. I've since sold my carb truck but I believe it is for the EGR valve, if memory serves me.

If you have a California spec engine there are two of those types of vacuum switches.

When I replaced my engine I was able to by the single one from an online Toyota parts dealer. The California-spec vacuum switch is not made anymore.

It is part number 23623 in the attached fiche or revised part number 23820-13020. But you will need to confirm that part number from the dealer. On my old one, it was imprinted on it. You can take the whole thing into the dealer and they should be able to cross it over to the new number. It's made by Aisin.
