trying to get my 84 running...

Hey guys,

So I just bought a 1984 4runner that had been sitting for 4 years. I like tinkering with things I don't understand, so here I am=d

I just changed the battery, and I still need to drain the old fuel, but I just wanted to see if it'll crank. Well it didn't. So I look in the fuse box and the 60A fuel fuse is blown... what the hell is a fuel fuse? I plug in a new fuse, and as soon as it touches it lights up like a christmas tree and burns. So there's a short..but I don't know where I should look?

also when I cranked, there used to be a click & whirlling noise but now there isn't. I don't know if the starter is now dead and creating this short, or is this "fuel fuse" is preventing the starter from working.

any help/thoughts would be appreciated, thanks~Steve

Whatever the ultimate solution is I would fix the short as a start.

when I say fuel fuse, I actually meant the fuse that says gasoline. Also says AM1. Can anybody give me the run down on what this fuse protects?

cause I'm wondering if it's my starter that is causing the short..
