tire rubbing

my front tires rub when the wheel is fully turned. to solve this im thinking of two methods. one,(which im doing no matter what) is to get some 1.5'' wheel spacers to match my ifs rear end. when i think about it it seems like that would help. what do you guys think? if that doesnt work i'll probably get some lift shackles

1.5" spacers might help a bit, but your best bet is getting some springs that move you axle forward. I just did a SAS with Trail-Gear 3" springs, a Marlin Crawler drop spring hanger, and 1.5" wheel spacers and I can fit 36"s easily. But the springs haven't settled yet, so we'll see in a couple of months.

You can run stock rear springs up front and that'll move your axle forward a bit.

Or, you can remove your front axle and redrill the holes in the spring perches that the leafspring center pin rides in. Drill the new holes about one inch farther back than stock. Then remount you springs using the new holes and it'll move your axle forward.

yea i'll be getting the marlin trail flex kit eventually i just need something for now to hold me off. it doesnt rub on the frame it rubs on the rear part of the wheel well right next to the mounts where the plastic skirt used to be.

Best fix is to move the front axle forward:

Stock location, 33s and 3.5" springs:

Similar lift and tiire height, axle 2" forward w/ stock rears up front:

Wheel spacers and/or wider wheels or tires will only make rubbing worse. Why? Wider wheel swings a wider arc when steering. If that arc intersects the arch of the wheel well/firewall, you have rubbing. Wider arc = more chance of rubbing. With 33x9.50 tires on stock 6" rims, I cured rubbing with a 3.5" spring lift, 1" body and 1" shackle up front. For the 33x15.50 tires on 10" rims, it took moving the axle 2" forward to nearly cure the rubbing and a further 3/4" forward fixed it for good (2.75" forward from stock).
