Thoughts on what it's worth?

So one of my dads friends has a '84 'Yota pickup. I'm trying to talk him into selling it to me. It has been garaged 99% of it's life, and there is no visible rust. 96k miles, 22R engine (obviously), solid front axle (again, obviously), 4WD, 5 speed, with a camper shell (that I'm not really interested in). I'm pretty sure I got him thinking about selling it, but I don't want to lowball him. Thoughts?

check your local craigslist and find out what they are going for on there....but it would be around 3k where I live if everything is in perfect condition like you make it sound...

But then again if he doesn't know what he has, you might be able to get it for a lot cheaper, or if he doesn't use it etc....just ask him what he wants for it...

Where do you live? I've found it makes a difference in the prices.

$3k sounds a little high, but if it runs and looks near perfect that's probably about right. I'd offer 2 grand.

My 84 xtracab 4x4 here in Northern California I got for $2800 from the original family (it was an heirloom from dad to son) The interior had natural cracks on the dash, almost perfect seats though.

Four wheel drive worked, engine needed an ignition timing adjustment, but hey he threw in a rebuilt winch and carrier! 31" tires and small Rancho suspension lift. The paint was nice enough to wash regularly... at the time

I'm in Denver. I'll see what he wants, I guess.

you're buying, not selling so that makes a bit of difference when figuring prices. so ... mid-high 2000, low 3000. record keeping raises the value.

He doesn't seem interested in selling it anymore .
