thirds swapping

thirds swapping
1) so from the searching ive done i hear that front and rear 8" thirds are interchangeable in 85 4runner. is this correct?
2) I currently have rear spool and front detroit, this is my DD so i want to swap them to make my tires last a little longer, ( rears are rounding quick from spooling around corners) is this a good idea, dumb idea, even possible? - I am aware that turning will be difficult with the spool up front and locked-engaged
3) if above is possible and not completely dumb, is there going to be an issue with strength from running detroit rear and spool front when I install dual cases?

Detroits are really strong, I am going to be running the one I have now with my dual cases (once I get them
)...yes they are interchangeable...try it and if you dont like it put it back! I have a ARB in my front, when locked its pretty much a spool, and yes its really hard to turn, but you do turn. When the hubs are unlocked it doesnt matter!

2) Put the Detroit in the rear and get a selectable up front, ARB or e-locker.
3) Nope.
