temp sender connected to CEL?

I want to know if I fit a mechanical temp gauge whether I'll get a code. In other words, is the stock sensor connected to the CEL through the cluster?

This may sound stupid, but I recall reading something about this. I just can't find the thread, and I want to know before pulling things apart.

I mean water temp.

I suppose I could just unplug the sender and see what happens, but I don't think it would react quickly.

There is a specific coolant sensor for the ecu and a seperate coolant temp sender that goes to the dash. The single wire sensor goes to the dash and will not throw codes if pulled.

I think that I might have been thread hijacking. I'll just start a new one.

Thanks. This is what I thought I had read somewhere, but I needed to be sure.
