just bought a deceent project 84 4x4 pickup and its haveing the same problem my old 86 did. tail lights just quite working. my 86 had brake lights, turn signels and backups but no running lights. same with this. swaped houseings and bulbs and still the same thing. anyone help?

 

rear harness is easly checked .. you can unplug it just behind the passengerseat before it goes threw the back wall .

take your test light , and check all the plug prongs .. make sure there all working from there .

Park lights are a seperate wire , I dont have my manual here though so I'm not positive what color , so it should be easy to track down from there .

 

Might check the ground connection on the parking light socket. That bulb shares that ground with the brake light and if bad one or the other can act up.

 

my 84's tail lights just quit out of no where about 2 weeks ago. turned out the fuse blew. might be something to check
