Suspension

I just wanted to see what is working best for you guys with lifted runners. I have an 85 with a 3 or 4 inch unknown lift (I think Rancho) and 33x12.50 AT's. The truck rides real harsh and has no give. It doesn't flex at all and the tires rub up front when I get off road. I've been building Sami's with super flexy soft ride suspensions for years but the Yota's are fairly new to me. I've been searching and reading up for about a month or so trying to develop my plan of attack but I'm still unsure what's the best way to do what I want. I want to get the truck up a few more inches, soften up the ride and have moderate flex. I don't plan on doing any serious rock crawling with this rig like I did with the Sami's, the runner will be more of a mild trail or weekend cabin runner with the occasional hillclimb or mud pit. I'm pretty much done with the rocks. It needs to ride down the highway easy and halfway comfortable. I'd like to keep the stock spring hangers if possible but I understand that to achieve what I want this may not be possible. Anyway, tell me what you think I should go with and why. Thanks.

OME may say 2.5" but I think mine is more like 4". I went heavy duty front (springs and shocks) and medium duty springs with heavy duty shocks rear. I can clear 33" with no problem although I went with 31" BFG MT's.

This lift was high enough that my stock draglink would not work...even with the "special" flattened OME U-bolts. I had to buy a Procomp drop draglink (3" if I recall correctly). The truck sits very level with this lift kit. I did buy the full kit...new shackles, greasable shackle pins, etc.

Wow! Your rig looks great. I think your right, that looks like more than 2.5 inches. That's exactly what I'm looking for. I just sold my BMW today so I'll probably be ordering something soon. I may be in touch to ask a few more questions. I'm definately sold on the OME's.. Thanks
