Stevesk88's 84 Build Up Thread

Alright! Its about time! Sorry, had to get that out. I finally sold my 86 Single Cab. Who would have thought that truck would be so hard to sell? It took a little more than 2 months! Had it on craigs and a sign on the back. Got at least 1 call a day for the first month, I remade an add every week on craigs. And i ended up selling it to one of my best friends for 1400 who had to sell his 98 blazer on craigs right? Sold it in one day! Kid you not...
So i finally paid for my 84 Extra Cab today. I wont be getting it till sunday cause the p/o still has to clean out his things. He used it as a to and from work truck. He is a Carpenter. I work at a shop, we fix cars and clean/fix used bobcats. I once helped him load a bobcat bucket into the back of this truck without ever thinking i'd own it. Good thing he only lives about a mile away haha. I'll be posting picture's sunday when i get the truck. I don't have any super big plans for it like dual cases or tires bigger than a 33 for now but i do want to make it a functional all-purpose truck. Ready for the trial at anytime but gets me to work mon-fri. I am going to be 20 here in july and i've got the shop i work at on Saturdays to tinker. So follow along if you'd like

Here's my old lil blue 86 i sold. I'll miss it

Got it!

Today was a great day, i'll tell you what. Despite having to clean at least 200lbs of dirt, ice, snow, tools, random pieces of wood. Not to mention the tool box that was filled. I didn't realize i'd have to help clean it out. Its not so bad though.

Well here's some pictures! Hope they work...

Does that read only 133K miles? It's hard to see through the dust. Looks like a good find

Update.

Pulled the plugs over lunch today, not pretty haha. They were autolite's that where caked. I would have taken a picture but there not clear so i didn't bother. I got to take the last hour off work of work to pull into the shop for a little bit. In that time i replaced the pcv hose, got all four mud flaps unbolted and off, and power washed the engine. Had to cut the goofy chrome bumper off. Given the bumper to a buddy whose building an 84 single cab for his little brother. I also discovered i have power steering! I'm stoked!!! haha

I'll have picture's tomorrow!

Ill have more later. I'm on lunch right now. But my plans are 63's and 33's when i get time. This weekend i'm going to the yards to see if i can find some 4runner seats or something bucket to put in. I'm getting sick of the metal poking through the seat. I'm waiting till then to really go to town on vacuuming an such. For now i just wiped off the gauges and dash. I still need to find all the heater controls cause the p/o ripped them out. He said it had no heat. It only works when going uphill. I cracked the rad. open to find brown nastiness inside so i'm guessing thats the problem. We'll see haha. I also plan on swapping out the dash as soon as i find one and pull it, which i'm noooot looking forward to. The one in it is toast. I'm going for a green and black color scheme.

ALright. its been awhile since i've posted any pics i know. My camera is bein a pain. Anyway, lately i have put the rest of my dash together. put a new seat in. Thanks to BabyJesus for the seat OOOOO man was it fun vacuuming the floor of that truck for an hour and a half. I must have picked up 5 pounds of nails haha. I got my heater controls in but not working, i'm guessing someone ripped out the cables for vent controls and all that good stuff. At this point i'm waitin for summer to come around so i can put that on the back burner.
I put a new battery cable ends in and a new battery. The old one was from 04 lol. I also took a peak at my front main which only leaks a quart a week Also...my timing cover leaks too so i ordered everything from the head gasket to the oil pan gasket. Gunna do all that good stuff on saturday. Being that me and Babyjesus have done them in a night, its no biggie, these engines are more simple than a bobcat engine.

O and did a mention a Got black steely's with four inch's of backspacing and a sweet set of 32x11 Hercules Trail Diggers comin? Thats right. I'm stoked. Reason being was becuase i slid into a marker pole and tore open my rim. i got picture's. i just need to figure out how to make them bigger without ruining the clarity. Can anyone help?

Well its been awhile since i've had an update, so its time. Ive now have my 31x10.5 trial diggers. I had to paint the rims i got cause they were white and rusty. Took me sooo long to get them scuffed. Holy cow. My fingers were really sore and my head hurt from the thinner, but they turned out to be pretty sweet. Turned the look's of this truck around 180 degree's. I love getting double takes from those old guys that are just sitting there thinking about when they owned one of these trucks back in the day. I'll bet they they didn't have any complaints
