Sort of new guy/ Future project

Hello every one i figured i would come in and introduce myself. First off i am 25 have a beautiful wife and little girl and just happen to love any thing with a engine. I am currently deployed to Iraq on my 3rd and what i hope to be last deployment. On R&R i decided to sell my 2002 2500HD duramax due to the high cost of maintenance and for being a pain in the ass. They are great trucks and get decent mileage for a 7600lb truck but god forbid your head gaskets, cp3 pump, or injectors ever fail. Any way it was time to buy the wife a new car so we picked up a 2011 RAV4 that has been amazing. A week later my friend who i sold my 85 SR5 to gave me a call and wanted to know if i would buy it back after i sold it to him two years ago. I of course jumped on the deal and after a few emails worked out the details and to say the least i am very excited. I had big plans for this truck when i first picked it up off of another friend a few years ago and have kicked my self in the ass for selling it in the first place.

As for the future i will probably be on here a good bit. I dont have any major plans at this time. Maybe a new bumper and winch but thats about it until i get home. I have one other project i need to sell before i get to far into the truck but would like to start with a new tool box and relocate a pair of batteries in there for future demands, Might also upgrade the alternator while i am at it. At this time the 22RE is still kicking strong and is all stock with the exception of the intake. I still have a lot of research to do but i would love to swap a 2L-T in the old girl and pick up a few MPG. The truck is turning 35s with 4.10 gears so a gear change might be in the works as well.

Any way i will stop my huge rant now. Just very excited to have the old girl back and wanted to share.

Old projects.
Current project i need to sell

Sold a few months ago due to expense. (Cost to replace CP3 pump and injectors cost more then my entire yota build)

One of my favorite trucks ( 1/2 ton swaped with dana 60 front/14 bolt rear, 6.2 diesel with banks turbo, and 700R4) i dont know why i sold it.

Just married and before having a baby.

I would agree they are dogs with out a turbocharger but for what they are not bad at all. With 4.10s and the 700R4 on 33s i would get 18-20 mpg so i could not complain. Before i had a 93 with a 6.5 and factory GM-8 turbo with 380K on the clock when i sold her. It would be interesting i think to see what a NA 6.2/6.5 backed with a 5 speed would be like in a yota. I mean you would only pick up maybe 10-20 horses over a 22RE but you would double your torque. Find a way to get a turbo 6.5 in there with a open exhaust and a hot injection pump in there and your talking SBC power with BBC torque.

And some major MPG. Guessing in a yota with the right gears and trany combo you would see mid to high 20s with no problem. Plus since there are a ton of SBC swaps and the 6.2 and 6.5 both use the same motor mounts and transmissions as a small block it would be no harder then a normal SBC swap i wouldn't think. Of course the 2L engines are also a easy swap from what i have been reading and you dont need a transmission adapter or different motor mounts to do it.

As much as i would love to do a mechanical injected 6.5 with a GM-8 turbo in the yota i dont need that much power. I am sure it would be bad ass. I mean even with out a turbo and a hot injection pump you can make 160hp and around 280tq out of them very easy.
