WOW!! on any other board you would get toasted for saying the search button is dumb!!! funny though, I agree, sometimes you just want to post up a quick Q and dont have time/desire to search through post after post after post after post after post.....but, majority rules!!! Anyway yeah, it is pretty slow over here...

This section may not be seeing losts of action, but the forum itself sees well over 300 to 500 posts a day.

I was actually thinking about this the other day but didn't post anything. Why do they have two different forums for the '84-'85 and '86-'95 when they are all pretty much the same?

Obviously, the older trucks dont breakdown as much hence less posting

Furthermore, older truck owners dont need to talk about group buys for seatcovers and bling instrument gauge covers.....

Real trucks are built, not bought which is why I frequent the fab shop section most of the time...it would be nice to see projects other than solid axle swaps all the time however.

huh.... IFS, EFI what are those . we should def join some generatins or somthing. then people can see more reading and post more opinions or help. but im srious on the search thing. im on a dirt bike forum and we post the same thing like every week but we always end up with totally different discussion and its fun. like i posted seafoam and foudn a huge thread about it in the other section, whats so bad about starting a new discussion and more updated results after finally using the product . just my .02

Or you could resurface that post and bring up a question to keep everything under one thread for that topic... The reason that people get pissed about it is b/c those that do search alot have to search through a ton of different threads with the same title, most of which end up either being repeats or b/s. I mean no offense to you but its annoying as all hell trying to find something and 20 different threads pop up, it makes for a long day.

I deffinently agree on the joining of the '84-'85 and '86-'95 forums there really is no need to have two forums for these years (my .02). I mean other than a few minor differences mechanically & body wise everything is pretty much the same (99.99%).

***Edit: I was going to make a poll but it doesn't look like you can do that on this forum plus I'm not sure what the rest of you think so I'm not going to persue it.

I always use the new post button anyway, but really this site is mostly focused on 3rd gen 4runners. If you need some serious tech for 1st gens, hit pirate4x4. I am pretty sure they know everything there is to know, haha. Of course, over there, if you "don't feel like searching" they will rip you a new one.
The difference between 84-85 4runners and 86-95 forum is IFS of course, also the 3.0L engine, but the second gen 4runners have almost nothing in common with the SFA rigs, so why merge that? They have more in common with the later first gens, I think this setup is fine.

I'll offer 84 & 85 are the last years of the straight axcel 4 runners. 86 up are IFS. Lots of people switch back to straight axcel, so they get there own space. 2 cents.

Yeah I am a red star member on pirate4x4 as well i just like how laid back this site is and the group of guys on here. '84-'85 & '86-95 are all running pretty much the same mechanics wise, I know there are differences but for the most part those differences are usually bolt on mods for the '84-'85 group. Yeah you mentioned SFA but most 2nd gen runners and 3rd gen trucks are all converting to this anyway. The only other difference I can think of is that the '84 is carb which like you said would deffinently relate more to the older models. As far as the '85 goes though it falls more into place with the '86-'85 group, yeah some of them came with the 3.0 but alot of them had the 22re as well. I know there are a few different tranny's out there but im pretty sure all of them are a bolt on with maybe a few different mods. T-cases as far as i know there are just the forward shift model and the top shift (model # ?). The rear axle is a bold up and only a 3" difference between the '85 and '86 and just about all the body parts are swapable, that is until you reach the '90 to '95 group. So unless im missing something mechanically and even physically they are pretty much the same from '85-'89, '90 and up is were most of the changes are but even that is mostly just a different body style alot of the mechanics were carried through... Just my .02

**Not trying to sound like a dick or create waves but on average there is about 3 people in here on a good day and around 30 or so in the '86-'95 section

You might wanna try Pirate 4x4. They have lots of nice people over there with 1st gens just like yours. And they don't like searching either!
