Shock Reccomendations
Hello I own a 1985 4runner with a 3" suspension lift and am wanting to upgrade to better front shocks to make the front end less bouncy. Currently, the truck has Downey 3" front springs with Doueche Tech 3000's and it rides very pogo like. I have weight in the rear and it seems to ride better. This truck is my daily driver, not a hardcore wheeler. I have been looking at the Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks. Has any one tried these on the front? Would they be less valving compared to the 3000's? Thanks for your input.

I liked the 9000s a lot when i had them. They are adjustable so you can make them more or less than what you have now, they get very soft or stiff at the first and 9th setting. I bet you will like them.

I like the Bilstein 5125s, and have run them for several years with the Daystar EVS foam bump stops, but I recently went with Old Man Emu (OME) shocks I got with the 2.5" Dakar emu springs for my new to me 1984 LN65. Like the set pretty well.

Yea bilsteins are great, my 5150s do a decent job keeping up with my fox's for what they are. For some people the adjust-ability is really nice though

When i swapped out the stock link and coils on my 1993 4Runner for Marlin 5" HD rear springs, i did not install any true bump stops, but instead these evs shock mounted bumps set up on the rig in a way where they would compress before the springs entered a negative arch. They were great for crawling and slow wheeling, but I would not trust them for any higher speed bottoming out. Luckily, I never wheel like that. They are fairly cheap; they add a little piece of mind.
