Can anyone recommend a Toyota shop in Sacramento who is good with this era of trucks?

Sacramento

Buying an 85 w/22RE that has an oil leak I’d like to get fixed as well as to make the truck roadworthy for a drive back to NM.
The oil leak is reported to be from a loose camshaft end plug.

You ought to be able to buy less than a hundred dollars worth of hand tools and parts there locally, and fix it yourself in a couple hours, if the diagnosis is correct.

Have you bought this truck long distance, without seeing it in person??

If you expect to hire all work on this 40 year old truck done by others, you've got a rough road ahead.

It’s in Folsom.

And, yes, I would be buying the truck remote.
And, yes, I would be having someone local to the truck do the repair and make it roadworthy.

I appreciate your suggestion and advice. Unfortunately, I’m not mechanically inclined.

I am about 35 miles from Folsom. Any idea what type of repairs are needed besides an oil leak to make it road worthy? Tune, brakes, truck been sitting a while??

I think that I’m just going to have it shipped here vs flying out, getting it fixed, and driving it back. I hired a mobile mechanic to go and look at the truck this evening to get an objective opinion and I’m satisfied it’s a pretty good truck.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Glad you got it figured out. If you change your mind you can message me. Been a mechanic for over 35 years and always looking for small side jobs to make a few extra bucks. What part of NM are you in? I've got friends up in Chama
